Raffia Bags Kenya held a refresher for peer educators
Between 12th and 18th February, 2010, Raffia Bags Kenya held a refresher for peer educators in order to boost their role in promotion of behaviour change and in HIV/AIDS communication and awareness. Altogether 20 peer educators were trained. This event was a preparation for a series of scheduled onsite voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) sessions to be held in March. The peer educators are instrumental in creating motivation for VCT-uptake among their co-workers. They can also reinforce prevention messages while at the same time encouraging positive living for the infected and affected. The peer educators have in the past extended awareness to the community in the surrounding and reached over 500 people with information and referrals for VCT, treatment, care and support.
